Blue Bomber Finally Dead

So it was just a matter of time but it's here. My 1989 Cheverlot Caprice has finally given me the overheat light one to many times. I paid a thousand dollars for this car about 2 1/2 years ago. Which is pretty good. I've had to invest probably about another grand into it over the years to keep her going. But all in all the car was good to me, I used it through a number of films shot in the forest aswell as the desert, and it always kept me going. Not to mention it's been through terrain that only a Tahoe should be making.

But a few weeks ago I noticed some minor leaking on a number of spots. I took it in and they wanted 5,000 dollars to fix the repairs. My transmission was leaking out of a pipe in the back, my oil pan was damaged causing leaks, aswell as my radiator has a crack in it causing it to leak and overheat. Probably all that rough terrain. So Rachel and I were going to look into new used cars, until her dad offered to sell me his older car. It's def. nothing fancy but it's cheap and it will get me to work which is all I need right now.

A week and a half ago I was driving home from work when my overheat light came on way earler than ever before. I turned the heat on full blast and hoped for the best. It must have been my lucky day b/c I made it home. Only to lift the hood and see a gyser of burning coolant coming out of my resevior tank. Needless to say that was the end of long trips with the chevy. So this weekend I'm flying up North to pick up my new used wheels and get back to the grind. Yea I guess.

well, a couple thousand dollars for a couple years of transportation isn't all that bad - especially driving the distances/hours you do in cali. plus you knew it wasn't going to last forever when you bought it. very nice of him to sell you his used wheels for the interim tho, car buying can be stressfull for the mind and the wallet. before new york i couldn't imagine life without a car... now i hope we can make it last as long as possible. maybe you should talk to gerry about pushing for a new california subway system. :)
