Promotion Already? Ohhhhhhhh yea.
On Friday my boss called me in and told me that they were moving me up and out of the Production Assistant position and into Production, this after 4 weeks (Yeaaaaa). This is a huge opportunity not to mention it's the position I've had my eye on. The job title is still vague but I will basically be performing all of the Production Coordinator duties. Depending on the company's future organization and structure I will hopefully get this job title and position full time. Pay increase and title are all things I haven’t brought up, currently I still work for my employment agency (I believe it's you dad that told me not to look a gift horse in the mouth--yet knowing me I've messed that sane up), I figure those will be issues that will be addressed in months ahead. My boss told me that at minimum if a position isn't available that they would keep me on full time and give me my old P.A. position until something did open up. So it sounds like I have some big supporters looking out for me which is great.
They also want me to be a back up for the manager of Jeopardy's post production facility which is a huge responsibility. You act as a mediator between the companies Producer's who are of course cost conscious and with the Wheel of Fortune's/Jeopardy's directors, sound mixers, and editors. It's a tough position but def. people oriented which is something that I enjoy. So we'll see how everything pans out. They have already hinted that I will probably be invited to be a part of this year’s college Jeopardy which will be in Madison Wis. When ever the company goes on remotes (location changes) it presents an opportunity for a lot of overtime (big $$) not to mention a chance for each employee to get to know each other member of the team more closely.
So all of this is exciting. I had always heard that success comes from when opportunity meets preparation. I think I was lucky in that respect, when I came into this org. they were short staffed and had been in need of additional production help. I'm trying to not get overly excited because nothing is concrete in life. I'm just keeping a can-do-attitude and trying to be appreciative with what I have and where I am at the moment. There hiring another temp P.A. who I'm in charge of training so at least I know I will be able to focus on Production duties as that's where they need my help the most. I'll keep everyone posted-hope all is well.
