10K Personal Record (PR)

As I'm getting older it's harder to break PRs so I feel pretty good about lowering my record in this mornings Alameda Race to Save the Parks 10K.

Time: 38.44
Mile Spilts: 6.13, 6.09, 6.07, 6.09, 6.27, 6.26

I need to work on my last 2 miles but overall i was happy with the result, I placed 2nd in my age group (35-39) and 28th overall. I also ran a "recent" Mile PR of 5.11 at a track meet last week. I'll never match my high school mile best but still feel good about getting some leg speed back.

Great! I hope you saved a park.

Congrats on the PR, with all of the runs under your belt - getting a PR should feel real good. Have you been doing any speed work to get some of your leg speed back?

Way to go......what's with the last 2????? Remember don't look back and don't slow down at the end. Don't think I could challenge you any more but glad to see you feeling good about the accomplishment!

Blazing splits over that distance. Impressive. I aggree with Kris - I'd think PRs would be tough to get after this many years. Nice job.

Thanks all - getting a PR is a bit easier in the 10K since I've only really run them for a few years. There is a weekly 'all-commers' track meet that I've been going to that has helped my speed/stamina - I run all the distance events at the meet (800, mile, 2mile). There was one meet that I ran all the events (200, 400, 800, mile, 2mile) - producing slow times but a great workout).

I have also lost 7-8 lbs or so in the last few months which has helped. I think i could still lose 7-8 more (my BMI is still healthy) so Im trying to watch what i eat.

I WILL CRUSH YOU.
