you're not 20 anymore
What kind of doctor tells you that 36 is not 20, and you'll never be 20 again. It's true - I am 36 and have passed my peak fitness years - but, come on .. let the fantasy live in the patients mind!
Turns out I have arthritis in my knees - or, at least that's what the x-ray seems to show. I'm going to have an MRI in a few weeks to confirm. This is a huge bummer obviously since I'm not aware of any real treatment for arthritis, and - it seems to just progress. I've heard some patients have their knee scoped - my doc didn't really want to discuss that till the MRI came back. He wanted to talk about me being 36, did i want to walk when i was 90, and my ball sack (yeah - my ball sack - is that a new medical term?). my ball sack has never been better btw. i have the ball sack of a 20 year old.
anyway - I've started taking 1500mg of Glucosamine which from what I've read might help and has no side effects. I'm looking at Chondroitin Sulfate as well but am reading some scary stuff about that drug ... cancer link?
On brighter news .. hmm .. i have no brighter news. oh yeah - my ball sack - really really good.

um, yup. you aren't 20 anymore. and i'm not going to even touch the brighter news... literally.
Heres a link to help you judge your daily arthritis pain level based on your location. (I already plugged in your zip code - today looks good.)
You should retire running and just try walking
Let's discuss....20 30 40 60 PLUS
I take Celebrix for Arthritis, It works quite well.Looking forward to seeing you in early March.
Hmm. I didn't think 20 was all that great anyway. Did you?
I suppose repetitive loading any structure runs the risk of decreased function over time. Not to ascribe to the school of low expectations, but how about swimming? Still aerobic, wickedly competitive if you're into that, and a different mechanical loading profile. Plus you can have a body fat index greater than zero and not have to feel bad about things. And, you can move onto a boat or board sport if you need to breath more often.
That said, this link recently gave me a pause during my plan for world sailing domination... apparently it is bucks, rather than sharks that are the marine dangers here in the interior.

Remember what George Burns Said when asked how it felt to be 95. I'm 74 & haven't had any knee operations, guess there's some advantages to being a couch potato.
