knee - 10K

puke.jpgTurns out I don't have arthritis -- which is way good. MRI results came back showing "Essentially unremarkable knee" .. this is the one case being "unremarkable" rules. I'm going to physical therapy weekly now - strengthening muscles around my knee/core.

Ran a 10K this morning, very minimal knee pain. Time wasn't great but i beat this dude who beat me two weeks ago so I feel good about it. I also puked at the finish line - yeah, pretty freakin' cool. The only time it feels good to puke is after a run.

Great News about test results and glad to hear about the race. See you Thursday:)

Glad your knee's AOK. MRI's are great: they can give excellent resolution of both bone and soft tissue, the latter being a big part of what makes a knee joint really work in the first place. Saves you a scope exam, and all the hassle that goes with that.

PR's come in all flavors - sometimes for me its worthwhile when "at least it wasn't as bad as last time". Afterall, sometimes its the 2nd derivative that is most important when it comes to trends, right? Happy running!

Let's just take a pass this time on discussing the whole vomiting thing...whatever works.

For those medically slanted in the family, my actual MRI writeup (latin to me) ...

FINDINGS: Menisci are intact. Anterior cruciate ligament, posterior cruciate ligament, extensor mechanisms, flexor retinaculi, medial collateral ligament, and lateral collateral
ligaments are intact. Incidental note is made of a fabella. No cartilaginous thinning. There is an approximately 5 mm area of increased signal intensity within the proximal tibia without bony destruction. This is low signal on T1 weighted images and likely represents a small bone cyst. A similar appearing lesion is seen posteriorly within the lateral femoral condyle.

IMPRESSION: Essentially unremarkable knee MRI.

Gerry Bare:

Puking also feels good after ingesting E-Coli & other similiar substances.

Good news on the knee. I'm expecting PR times by summertime.

One key after you get stronger strengthening your knee, hip, core, etc. and the knee continues to feel better and better is to continue to strengthen and do exercises. Classic mistake by almost everyone after an injury - treat, rehabilitate, stop rehabilitation because it feels better, then strength around area starts to decrease, then back to painful condition. It seems unfair on how fast our body can breakdown and yet it takes so long to build up.

Now that you are depressed from that news - let me offer you a SOLUTION. You could join Anytime Fitness and you can keep your body in fine working order.
