above the fold
Shannon was above the fold this weekend .. which is to say she made the front page of the Sacramento Bee, one of the largest newspapers in the state. But .. she not only made the front page she was 'above the fold' .. meaning he photo was in the top half of the front page .. essentially becoming the first person that most people see when they wake up and pick up their paper.
ok ok .. I'm being a little dramatic, shannon was mortified her photo made the paper at all, but - I think it's pretty cool.

The Pelican story continues, the culprit sounds like a strong cold front dropping temps 50+ degrees overnight, not giving the birds enough time to fly to warmer weather (frostbite, disorientation, dehydration, hunger ensued)

Just how big are these pelicans...guess I never really appreciated their size and in the photo they look prehistoric. Know Shannon does not like overwhelming attention or recognition but WOW what she is doing is very impressive! Give her our praise as well above or below the fold!
that picture definitly should be BELOW THE FOLD. don't bring the sick birds to our attention untill "we have more to the story"
We think Shannon and her team are doing a wonderful job, and it's nice to see their story on the front cover. The birds are beautiful, and are fortunate they have Shannon to help them.
