trail runs

I'm currently first place in a national trail racing competition.

The contest runs through the end of September and awards points based on finishing some of the toughest trail runs in the country (bonus points are given for placing in the top 3).

It's rare that I place in the top 3 (happening only once so far) but I travel all over the country to run the designated races and have managed to rack up more points than anyone else so far. It's still early in the contest and I doubt I'll be able to finish on top but it's been a challenging/fun goal.

Since March I've competed 12 trail runs in 10 different states:

San Luis Obispo, CA San Antonio, TX Grand Rivers, KY
Tampa, FL Calistoga, CA Stinson Beach, CA
Spokane, WA Greensboro, NC Milton, MA
Plainview, NY Gunnison, CO Laramie, WY

In June I'm targeting races in Bellingham, WA; Rollinsville, CO; Tarzana, CA; and Quebec, Canada. LA Crew .. when I'm in Tarzana (June 14) hope we can get dinner

A couple pics from a recent run in Colorado (circled me since I'm hard to find)

Hey, you're famous!

It looks like a mature crowd, and a lot of females - do people still think that women may (ultimately or already) prove better at super long races than men?

Fabulous pics. Can you upload a bigger version for us to zoom in on you?

J: Yeah - ultra runs definitely seem to even the playing field both in terms of sex/age.

Although the way this contest is set up older runners have an advantage since you are awarded points based on how high you place in your age bracket (40-49, 50-59, etc) and generally there are fewer competitors in the older age groups.

You don't even look like your moving.

S: .. sadly that's pretty accurate. this course was a killer and i did alot of walking (and standing, and laying) before crossing the finish line
