Glad you got this seen. A dermatol friend used to ride the Boston T saying to strangers, "I can take care of that mole for you", until someone told her very explicitly that they didn't appreciate her advances and desire to help.
I gotta say that having other organisms (micro or macro) this close to incisions creeps me out, but I only hear about the times this goes badly.

Totally good you went in and had it check out and then removed. Totally not good that you are letting the bird chew on the stitches.
