Lincoln Memorial
As we waited to go up into the Washington Memorial, here's Claire with Lincoln Memorial and Reflective Pool in background. Site of MLK's speech, and a Children's Defense Fund Rally Holly and I went to about a decade ago, the site still carries a lot of resonance.
MLK on UTube, if you're interested:

Riley thinks the geese are nice, too.

It looks like you and Riley are really getting in the sites of Washington D.C. I imagine that you are getting to learn quite a bit about our nation's history.
That was awful nice of Riley to schoo away the Canadian geese for your pose in front of the Reflective Pool and Lincoln Memorial.
I was excited to talk with you. Sounds like your vacation was really great! Grama pat
Your family does a lot of interesting things
looks like fun! i haven't made it down yet but i'll have to soon, since i'm just a train ride away.
WOW, GREAT PICTURES! This is one city I have wanted to visit -- how fun to "see" history in D.C!
How was the weather? More muggy than the midwest?
Dear Kris- I did get to learn about history. I saw Abe Lincoln's hat up close. I'll try to post a picture I took of it :).
Dear Grandma - I really enjoyed talking with you too. We saw the Pandas you told Dad about, they were so cool.
Dear Steven - Thanks, I thought it was interesting too. California is nice, too. :)
Dear Craig - Yes, we spend some fun time in Union Station in DC, where the Amtrak train from NYC arrives. I had a fluffernutter sandwhich in this restaurant at Union Station. It was fun. They have dishes from each of the 50 States. Here's a link:

Dear Matt - it was pretty hot and humid, but not much different than here in Saint Louis. [what is the key stroke symbol for a really sweaty smiley face? =:),..
PS- who is matty watty?
