 Of course it took moving out of the midwest for me to survive a tornado. However, in all honesty, it wasn't all that close to me or our apartment - but it is till crazy that a tornado was even in the vicinity of New York. The only real problems we ran into were a flooded basement again (see previous post for pictures) and craptastic subway delays. I did still make it to work by noon which (in theory) isn't that terrible considering a good 15 mins is spent commuting under water.
Overall, not too big of a deal for us - but the pictures are pretty crazy (not taken by me).

I've hear that NY is past due for a major hurricane hit as well so you may want to get used to swimming to work.
I suppose it's better to be renters when stuff like this happens - would hate to own and worry about big $ uninsured damage to the property.
Most home insurance policies do not include flooding .. they include damage caused by wind but not water - which is pretty lame really since hurricane winds/storms bring the water. This left many Katrina victims high/dry (well .. low/wet really)
Yup, I've heard that too. There is actually a lot of research behind where it'll hit and what the hardest. From the general look of it, we'll end up with water-front property. :) Either way, our strong aero bed (air mattress) should come in handy.

Tornado's in NY. Snow in Africa. Whats next? Hope it's not a big quake. Ever since I felt the 4.5 in L.A. last week I've been feeling like there's more to come.(Knock on wood)
I think I have to agree with Steve-O on the code monkey biz. It seemed like an old nintendo game turned into a television show. But coming from someone that liked Aqua Teen Hunger Force I'm anxious to give it a shot.
