Des Moines Flooding
I found some neat photos and the following video of the Des Moines flooding area around Dad's house. Sounds like it didn't actually reach his building even though the pictures look more intense.

Eventually, the water was higher than these pics show. Those open curved arches on the bridges were completely blocked and now that the water is low again, new sand bars have emerged in the river that were not there before. Water came within 6 inches of the levee top around my bldg. Our Governor has asked people to quit refering to these events as the 100 or 500 year floods, since patterns have changed & they will come more often.
Dad .. was your secret cookie recipe ever in danger of getting wet/carried away with the flood? Do you have that laminated or protected in an appropriate manner?! Do you have the only copy?!?! For the love of all things just .. make a copy and put it in a bank vault!
but remember to wrap them up in something before you send them again ... cookies just chillin in a box is no good
