A pet or a child . . . both can add so much to the family.

Fabulous photos. The expressions of "Who? Me? Huh?" are particularly impressive.

While I do not recognize anyone I know, I can not help but think these are representative of actual events. Sustained chewing, or painting, by so-called innocents, should never be underestimated.

These were funny NOW
But m y memory has not vanished totally
So I remember some truth worse than fiction
After the fact and many years these memories do what makes up favorite stories in a family

Reconstructing (shag?) carpet from paint after a particularly damaging carpet chewing adventure has to be one of my favorites.

Still not sure how Mom pulled that one off.

Not completely sure who did the chewing; presumably the dog in residence at time but he took the fall for more than was probably fair.

All stories are like that old game of phone pass on conversations...

I need to make a small correction to this story!

We had a home made cement and rock creation ( square pot)that we used to hold a rather large plant. This plant holder did not really hold water. It also became quite heavy so it was never moved...until moving day!

We were moving from an apartment in Kalamazoo to another city in Mi. As we moved the cement plant holder the damage was clear. It was an unbelievable 3-D moldy experience. And finances were tight so we really needed our security deposit back.

The solution to an art major after scraping the 3-d part and even resorting to triming some of the shag off with the hair clippers was to get out the paints and dabble. The carpet was muilti-colored shag. The paint experiment was quite successful.

SO guess the mom has to take the blame!

Ah, this story is even better. I remember the carpet and the repair - but not the offending pot.
Pretty resourceful. Perhaps the paint sculpture carpet is only part of the carpet still standing. AstroTurf may simply be a variation on your theme.

Necessity is the mother of invention, but that day my mother was the mother of invention.

Why the sudden interest in such an old story? Anyway, I made the planter with carefully made wooden frames using high grade cement and assorted rocks found in the woods nearby. So proud of my first home project. Very thick and heavy , a masterpiece (in my mind). I never thought thick cement would leak. The plant loved it , we loved it, the carpet did not.

Current old-story-to-be in TX is how to find shade. Melted my left Croc in parked car to point where it is now a different size than right. After years of shop vac and sump pump adventures trying to keep water out of basement in St. Louis, Holly is now threading soaker hoses to keep foundation area wet enough not to crack. Living next door to a geologist makes this process much better informed.

By contrast, my Chinese army surplus parachute is now up as an intermittent backyard shade, with home-built system that begs the question, "do you really know what you're doing?". Hopefully it will not rip off back of house; pics to follow. We were all about quick release tie down knots during parachute shade tests this weekend.
