Grandfather Mountain N.C.
We went to Grandfather Mountain for a Scottish Highlands Festival. Grandfather Mountain is the highest point in the Blue Ridge Mountains. We found the clan Mckinnon with the tartan.
This is me finishing about a 1000 ft. rock face, Heather has a great zoom on her camera.

When I was in Scotland in 1959, I also found the McKinnon tartan which they told me was the root clan of McKinney. I bought a tie in the tartan colors, brown & yellow . . . not very good looking. They said most Americans don't like there own clan colors, so buy a different & don't admit it when they get home. Dad
I think I saw a story about this festival in the New York Times. It looked really interesting, and it's nice to think of you having been there. I think Bill Bradley's book (from the last election cycle?) talks a lot about the Scots (and their historical impact) in your new part of the country. We hope your move has gone well. Enjoy! -Jeff
The move has gone well and we are fairly settled in. The Scottish festival was fun even though we only caught the last few hours for the day. I wasn't aware of the Scottish presence - interesting surprise. The tartan colors that we saw were more red, green, black, etc. - maybe those are the Americanized Mckinnon colors. Once we figure out how to put pictures up, we will put some up. - Kris
looking forward to seeing the pics ... give me a call if you want me to walk you though it.
Cool pics .. although you should make them bigger! (maybe for your camera reducing to 17% is too much)
Something tells me that isn't a 1000ft rock face .. maybe it's the lack of ropes/gear .. or .. maybe you're just a natural.
Whats your new place like?
The place we are in is a ranch style house that sits high on a hill (the driveway is very steep) - which made for some "fun" moving in because the trailer could not be parked on it. It has three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a backyard that is pretty much lined with woods. Maybe in a few days I can get some pictures up.
Nice photos. Seeing two redheads walking around together must have made people pretty happy there, 'eh?... I think I need to rent Braveheart from Netflix so I can better get into appropriate Scottish character.
Glad the move has gone so well. Sounds like beautiful country in your area.
