Kayaking on Wautauga Lake
Here are a few pictures from a kayaking excursion not too far from our place about 4 weeks ago.
For our bonsai lesson of the week. This tree has nice "nabari" - which is a bonsai term for good root presentation. You will also notice the dead branch where there is no longer any bark, that is called "jin" in the bonsai world. Oh, Brian, by the way, thanks for the little bonsai tree probably a year or so ago. That piqued my interest and I took a bonsai class last spring.

Wow, looks gorgeous. Maybe I can join you for a jaunt in a few weeks.
However, I prefer my jin with juice.
PS, I have a million responses about nice nabari... but we'll keep that between adults.
Wow - the land surrounding the water is so dense with vegetation. I bet it would be easy to get lost hiking through the hills - although probably a great place to go camping if you can find a clearing.
Shannon and I have done a fair amount of kayaking on vacations (great arm workout). Wish we had a spot like this close to us.
