Recent artwork by my students
6th Grade Watercolor paintings based off Paul Klee using a variety of watercolor techniques
8th Graders making plaster casts of their hands. Using George Segal as inspiration, later students will be replicating their favorite painting onto the casts.
8th graders working on clay sculptures. Looked at pre-columbian zoomorphic pottery for inspiration.
6th graders constructing their windchimes. Created pinch pots for the top and slab pieces for the chimes.
7th Grade coil pottery. Students viewed pottery from the Oaxaca region of Mexico for motivation.

Very cool projects!! .. thanks for sharing
The Paul Klee like work hurts my brain, seriously. It's like my eyes are trying to bring the images back into focus or something.
I don't understand the casts .. how do you get the casts off the hands without breaking the cast? This seems like voodoo magic to me
the pottery/windchimes look like fun projects, projects the kids will probably have/use for years/years
great blog!
The student with the elephant is awesome. I figure the first work is painting a regular picture then randomly cutting out and pasting squares in different places. I like the art work before I know I speculate that then a bit boring to me, but without thinking to hard about them they are all nice stuff.
Really nice work. Claire featured Oaxaco in a report recently - it's great that you can tap into other cultures' art with your class.
Wow! Voodoo magic, indeed.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, I wish I had an art teacher like you. Paper mache puppets were cool when I was in first grade, but every year following they lost their appeal.
Steven's right, that elephant IS awesome.
