Google Maps Oddity
Holly was making a map for someone to find us, and noticed that Steet View pictures are now even available for our (very minor, out of the way) street.
Just south of our address the Street View just happens to capture something unexpected.
Here's the link: http://maps.google.com/
Here's the address:
2301 Divot Drive MO 63131
Go south 1 or 2 houses on Divot. Panning around gets a wrap around view.
Three questions: 1) How (and who) do they take these photos? 2) How much memory must it take for this much image resolution across a very large coverage map? 3) Have they ever captured something that people don't want posted?

That's so freaky. I think that's the first time I've seen any people in any of these street view pictures. Not to mention a portion of our family. Not sure if it's cool or scary. I think it would be a cool gig to get if you enjoyed driving though. I think Criag had said they just recently started mapping out his area with the pictures.
This is SO awesome and one of my dreams. One day, maybe.
More proof that George Orwell was right. Big Brother IS watching you. Do any of you even know who George Orwell was?
Ah, Orwell. Did his book 1984 seem weird to anyone when it was read after 1984? I read it a few years before that; many years after Orwell picked the [1948-inspired?] title.
For movie buffs, I'd recommend the film Brazil as one entry into an Orwellean world view.
This film's working title was 1984 and 1/2; see this link...

In contrast to the book, I think Brazil is scary partly because of its "humor", and for what I recall as a visual atmosphere that nicely captures a glimpse of what some might call the banality of evil.
The picture is unbelievable. I tried to ;ook up our house in Milwaukee, but I just got the ussual street map.
This is really an interesting situation. Sort of like the tracking devices retek made me us on the traveling sales staff. It was extremely interesting some non tobacco locations they went to and very big brother. Checked out our address and it looked like Steven's car was parked where he usually parks.
