Off to Chicago tomorrow for the Iowa Game @ Soldier Field... AWESOMENESS. A slew of college friends pitched in for a sky box, should be fun! And, since we are playing NO NAME UNIVERSITY, should also be a "w" for the season opener. If you see a streaker at half-time, you'll know who it is.

That sounds like alot of fun. I'm not sure but is Chicago still getting rained on? Wonder if it's gonna be a messy game, that always raises the stakes a bit. Not to mention you'll be pretty cozy in your sky box.
I'll be interested what you think of Soldier Field. I drove by it last year and was amazed at how it had been modernized. Looks like a nice design. Should be great fun.
YES!! .. Winning the first game against a no-name is always harder than it sounds. Bonus points for beating the 12 point spread!!

I'm very big on Appalachia State this year. Incredible win vs Michigan, no? Hurray for the underdogs.
Does Kris think this reflects excellent training and/or a broad national talent pool? My impression (sorry, per NY Times written account only - so I'm talking through my hat here) is it wasn't that Michigan played badly, but rather that A. State played better.
a little delayed... Kris and I got to see some highlights of that game down south and yes, looked like appalachia state just brought a better game.
with last weeks game versus iowa state, the hawkeyes owe the entire state of iowa an apology. wow.
Jeff, sorry for the delayed response. I do think that the talent pool is getting more broad nationally (I think is a good thing - and fun to watch too). We have been seeing it more in Men's basketball with some of the small mid-major Division I teams doing well in the NCAA tournament.
As for Iowa last week - all I can say is "embarassing". But, like we have all had to do many times, we have to just pick our heads up and get the next team (down with Wisconsin).
it's going to be a long season. :( maybe homecoming will provide us enough of a home-field advantage this week.
