THANKS TO EVERYONE!
I want to give a huge THANK YOU to everyone that sent me emails throughout my run this weekend!!! It was much appriciated and needed! Your thoughts kept me going through the night, and I'm not sure I could have done it without them.
As you can see online, I finished 4th with a little under 108 miles covered over the 24 hours. Although I did have some troubles by hour 20 (I decided to take a cat nap), overall I feel good about the outcome. More importantly, I don't have any major injuries considering the toll taken on my body. My right leg/foot is swollen and sore, due to the fact that the direction of our 1 mile loop was never changed --- I assume running clockwise over and over impacted my right leg as a result. But, nothing is broken or seriously injured.
That said, my two big toe nails are BLACK. Not sure if they are going to fall off, or if I should go to a doctor to see if they SHOULD be taken off (any ideas from the medical team?). I tried to swim yesterday, but each toe nail was giving me too much pain to continue. Today I'll use some medical tape and see how that goes. :)
Thanks again everyone!!!

CONGRATULATIONS AGIAN MATT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
totally, way to go dude - you rock.
i tried to get the web cam to work, but it may not have been a mac friendly application. the email-a-runner tool they offered was very cool though, although when i went to send you another one (describing my delicious feast i had just eaten) it said too many had been sent. :)
I see the black toe nails happening in some of the athletes I've worked with when people start up a new season. During two-a-days some people lose their toe nails most likely due to the consistent pressure that is being put on them during many hours of activity (I believe running for 24 hours would qualify here:) Most likely you will lose your toe nails, but they will come back.
Congratulations. Going over the century mark is quite a feat. How do your legs feel compared to finishing a marathon? I'm curious.
Glad Kris has seen this. Until he weighed in with the voice of reason, I was ready to ask you to start heating up a paper clip to drain those puppies. Glad they'll come back - although "my uncle with no toe nails" is certainly a great start to a Haiku, limerick, etc. Glad you're OK. -J
