marathon

So I'd better submit SOMETHING, if only to "unban" myself. Nothing too new really. I ran a PR marathon in OC... 3:23. not bad, but a big 13 minutes slower than what's needed to qualify boston. Good news is I felt good throughout, so I forsee Boston in my future.

---- Other news - I'll be going to Thailand in Mid May for 3 months. I'm losing the business attire, and will be volunteer teaching in Koh Samui. I'll give more details as I know them, but should be a good time.

Great marathon time.. hope thats not what were doing at the gym tommorrow

Neat Thailand news. How far is this town from Bankok . Interesting! Tell us more When you have a dream it is great to follow it. Missed opportunities seems something that happen because we just pass things up. BUT you will be missed!

Congrats on the marathon time. Those 14 minutes you talk about are not easy ones to pick up when you are moving at that pace. Glad to see you back on the blog.

you can tell by the race photos that you ran all out at the finish, gritting your teeth and barreling to the tape. Impressive!

How many people did you take out in the last 200M? The avg 3.20-3.30 marathon probably weighs under 150lbs - people probably scatted to give you room in fear of their lives.

Of course - the other explanation for you grimace in the photos is constipation.

Nice to have you back, Matt.

Race looks good - great pics.

Thailand sounds interesting. Given prior travel there you may already have sorted this out, but here's a CDC trop-med link I like - on Japanese Encephalitis. I got the vaccine prior to going to (J.E. hyperendemic) Northern Thailand. Your island is probably lower risk, but still sporadically endemic. Here's the page for direct info. The vaccine is considered safe and effective, but sometimes takes a while to order.

Best wishes, J.

nice running pics, i spruced up your post with one of them. :)

if you make it to thailand, be sure to actually bring a camera and snap some pics for the mckinneytree!

Was great to see you both on Steven's Bday! The photo of the "grimmace" looks soooooo like my Dad looked at me when I was 2 minutes late coming home for his 10:30 date nite curfue. And then there... trains etc. I remember all too well the adventures of my HS days that were just plain STUPID! Who said youth is wasted on the young??? and what in the world does that mean????

looks like black panties id recommend knee long shorts next time

How goes your Thai planning? We've got the StL delegation tuned to Thai food now, so bring back some good recipies for us, OK? We even make pretty OK fresh rolls at home(the secret for us is fresh cilantro PLUS mint leaves; and plenty of wrappers with which to practice the rolling steps).
Good luck. -Jeff

Maybe you should teach Karlie (have her teach you) how to upload all those great pics she snapped on your visit here. ;)

i am just posting a comment so Matt's girlie likeness will show up more in the comment column

I guess I'll also just use this space to say Matt is pretty weak, easily beaten down by me in any sport or mental contest
