Boom!
Yesterday, Gerry had gone out to get a couple of DVD's for us to watch. I can always hear the garage door going up as he returns. At that same moment, I also hear a loud noice and feel the house sort of rumble and shaking along with the glasses hanging in the kitchen swaying and touching each other.
Are garage is pretty tight so was it possible that Gerry hit the house with the car? As I ran downstairs I could see he had pulled the car into the garage and all seemed fine. However several neighbors were outside talking about maybe an earthquake so definitely not my imagination.
The rest of the story....the space shuttle had just landed at the air force base near here since it had been rerouted from Fla and we had just experienced a sonic boom.

We felt a weird feeling also and couldn't find the source. It was like someone had hit the window with something but again we had no idea what it was...so, we are not going crazy!!

I wondered how far it was felt and I am surprized nothing showed up on TV or in the newspaper. Nor was there any pre information...seems news worthy to me?!
I also wish I knew more about when it happens....at re-entry or upon landing but here it was quite strong.
Thanks again Rachel for the wonderful dessert selection for Thanksgiving. Was nice to have your Dad and Jeanie as well as everyone. My brother really enjoyed seeing everyone again and his kids realy enjoyed everyone. Missed you friday but am sure you had a nice time with your family.

I read about this in the paper yesterday .. I'm jealous. I don't think I've ever heard a sonic boom.

Sorry you missed it Brian...were you in Woodlawn??? They say it was strongest from Malibu to Santa Barbara but and Orange County Paper reported comments from there!

I volunteer with a woman...,87(age)....at the Getty who knows more about the space program than anyone I have talked to. She and her husband were the "original" surfer couple , PRIOR TO gIGET, and collected Mustangs..., husband died 20 plus years ago and they had and she has the same properity... a home in the Malibu film community ...sort of apartment but not really...sort of built that way into the cliffs and Palisades where she has family...children grandchildren and great grand children move in and out with their needs., She is a California Miss Anderson...taught for years in Topanga Canyon... an eclectric community even years ago...maybe more then than now. But listening to her makes subjects come alive! I am very fortunate to have met her and to have going communications with her. She lives in California in a different time period and yet does not live in the past. One of those READERS DIGEST most unforegttable characters.
