Boston Duck aka DUKW

One of my favorite things in Boston was the Duck Tour. It was on a DUKW vehicle, as described in this link:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DUKW

The museum said it "drives better than any boat, and sails better than any truck".

Here I am next to one on land:

Riding through the streets of Boston:

Then, our piloting the boat in the Charles River:

It was really cool how we splashed into the river, and changed from being a truck to a boat. They said this one was used in WWII. It still runs great, and was a great way to see the city.

Grace and I just went to Boston/Cambridge this weekend! We didn't get a chance to ride a duck but saw a lot of them around town. Our next trip up will definitely include a tour. Great pics!

Great Shots .. I am currently in Boston for work and just saw this Duck vehicle (I run along the Charles River most nights. Looks like alot of fun - although it's a little scary that you were both allowed to pilot the boat!

BTW - Im in boston every other week now so if you swing back through let me know.

Brian, we will come visit again before summer is up and we'll take a duck ride. You can tell them I am your son and maybe I'll get to drive. :)

Great idea, Craig. You know I REALLY WANTED to drive, but they made me take pictures instead.

Wearing that pirate costume would be fun, too.

It looks like you had a lot of fun in Boston. That is a place I haven't been yet. If you ever get up to the Dells in Wisconsin you can also ride their "duck" vehical. Maybe you can talk your family into a whole cross the county duck vaction tour. I wonder how many states have these. The one in Wisconsin is also from WWII.

These vehicles are versitale and fun,we took a tour on one when we were in Sydney. I think we will see more of them in other cities.
