Pere Marquette

Dad and I went hiking this weekend. Here's a view as I'm taking a rest at the top of the trail, on McAdams Peak. It was pretty up there.

For scale, the brown rectangle in the river behind my head is a big duck blind (about the size of a 2-car garage).

I was amazed when I was walking along a trail, and totally unexpectedly I saw my next door neighbor, who just happened to be there at the same time we were! We had a nice time.

In the forest we met this magic stick creature. I wonder if it was formed from outerspace, on this special tree [just kidding].

Seriously, under this tree we saw this walking stick. He seems to know it's autumn, too - because he's now mostly brown.

We played chess to a 12-11 score on the board in this lodge. Here's a link - click here.

Riley Looks like a great hike! We had walking stick on our windows late at night in Chariton. They are very amazing. Fantastic to share with Dad in nature and also be surprised by a nice neighbor!

Mom- The lodge at this park is amazing. A CCC project, featuring a 70 ton(?) central fireplace, and huge wood beam work. The style reminded me of Starved Rock that you'd take us to en route to Chicago - maybe the same teams worked on both? -J

Sounds like a great hike! I especially like your addition of the stick man, although he appears to be making that fallen tree much heavier for Jeff to support.

first time I saw a walking stick i was breathless it was the coolest and most strangest nature being I think I have seen to date.
