New Projects

I've been saving money in my piggy bank (including a birthday check from grandma Pat) and I eventually had enough to buy a [ginormous] Lego set. With it I can fire new Lego Cannons, attach new hook hands to different people, and make a pirate ship with a curved front.

Here's the first assembly-

Here's the assembled ship, next to one I made before I got this set-

I also recently constructed a hand made tree porcupine for my rainforest project at school. I made a powerpoint presentation, too - to go with the project. Some interesting things I learned about this animal (Coendou prehensilis) are: it has long whiskers and has quills that barb when released from the body; it also has prehensile tail. Here's a link to a photo I used as a model for my sculpture.

Here's my sculpture, made using Model Magic and painted toothpicks and a branch we had.

My teachers liked it a lot.

This ship looks like it escaped from the Lego World display in Sweden. Was it difficult to assemble? Could it even be seaworthy on the park ponds near you? "Let Go My Legos" . In addition to liking the tree porcupine, the teachers were probably half afraid of it's quills.

I am jealous of your logo set. That looks awesome.

Your Lego ship is fantastic!

When Steven and Adam were little they had built some great things...think with Craig's help. It was a castle complete with people etc. Somehow it got broken and it was a pretty sad day! You really do a nice job and I know Lego building can be challenging.

Also neat that you saved up for this purchase and glad my birthday money gift helped.

The soft sculpture is way neat. What did some of your classmates create? Is this a relative of a porcupine?

Maybe when you come to California sometime you can visit Legoland. I have not been there but it is a park with rides that was built by the Lego Company. It is about a 2 hour drive from LA.

Gerry and I enjoy your posts.

Oh Man .. I would love to shoot BBs at your ship!!

Your ship is so radical! Brian's idea of attacking it also sounds fun, but it may be too great of a vessel for that.
