A little Info about my Classes
I just finished up session 1 of the summer quarter on to session 2 now. I was taking perspective and English 1. I found my self not really understanding the final project in perspective and my low B went to the final grade of 77 C .. kinda disappointed there. I really liked my english class seemed like I was doing creative work every week and really enjoyed the feeling of writing a profession english paper. I ended up with a 94% A for my final grade in that class which was great.
Now in session 2 of the summer quarter I just started History of Graphic Arts and A FND Drawing class. Most of these classes dont teach by just reading but more exercises. A project im working on today for History of Graphic Arts is designer a business card for a historical park I think im going to do the Great Wall of China. We are not doing these designs on the computer right now.. Im now sure if thats good or bad... right now they will just be sketches in our sketch pad.
The drawing class is interesting I don't believe I am a good if even average at Drawing so I hope this class will help. The teacher keeps insisting we take our sketch pads with us everywhere and when we have time sketch something. Practice makes perfect is where she is coming from.
Well I'm sure if i really like any of my designs ill post them here for you guys to check out.
Miss you all and can't wait to see the fam at ADAMS AND RACH WEDDING.

Hey buddy - sounds like a pretty good quarter overall. 94%? .. Nice!
Definitely post your designs/drawings as you progress. I enjoy seeing your work.
Hopefully we can hang out again soon .. maybe Thanksgiving for sure?
Also .. I just want to say that you're (next to me ofcourse) the best blogger in the family. Keep it up dude!

Sounds like things are moving along for ya and you are enjoying it, which is most important.
Something to remember for your writing and your design/art classes - always take three or four looks over your work before calling it done. Even better? Make that third/fourth look a day later so you have time to distance yourself from the project. With spelling and grammar being one of my personal weaknesses, triple checking and re-reading your work aloud will make you pick up on obvious mistakes. Plus, while it seems simple and somewhat silly - it totally helps you to train your artistic eye to spot areas that you may not be 100% sold on at first... AND - surprisingly enough - they are tasks that you will use every day through school and beyond.
Sweet session SteveO! Both your classes this session sound more interesting than Perspective... are they both online/internet courses or some class attendance too?
Both online
Thanks for the updates, Steven. Your frequent, and interesting, blogs are an inspiration to the rest of us.
I've also always enjoyed learning things when there is some fairly direct application, too.
As Craig points out, quality control on projects takes some practice - and I find some sort of routine helps. For my job, when I'm drawing up doses of medicines for kids (which each have to be adjusted to each patient's particular weight) I have this routine that probably looks funny to watch, but helps me do things in the right order. And then when I'm done cross checking, I know I'm done - which is a nice plus, too.
It's a pleasure to hear about things. We send out best wishes.
