School Update

So I am finishing up the summer quarter today is week 5 of a total of 5 1/2 of these two classes:
history of graphic design and drawing. I will update you on the final grades when they come in.. I get a break from 9/28 till 10/05 so matt is you are reading this lets get together when I'm on break if i dont talk to you before than. trying to get a hold of you so i can come up and we can get a few beers and hit up the grill.

Anyways my new classes are as follows: first session: color thoery... concept development.. looking forward to both of those seems like something i would need to learn to be in the professional world... the second session: typography (not really sure what this class is about i knwo its about fonts in some way but dont know the direction) and life drawing.. this class will be hard unless i get to find a window on some street and climb yo a tree and peep on someone... dont really have any suspects to draw but maybe mom and gerry will wake up with me sitting in their bed room with a pad of paper and a pencil.

So after that its xmas at dads ... really looking forward... and also after that its my 1 YEAR MARKER. which i am happy to make it even this far... 3 years after that and my plan had me grad in 2011... if dad agrees i hope to goto a grad school after this so i can become a professor for an online school but "easy boy" ill take it one day at a time.

These sound like interesting classes, Steven.
I recently read a cool article about the new typeface for road signs that is being rolled out: called Clearview.

Here's a NY Times Link about Clearview, and the people involved in creating it (including an intersting timeline feature not in the original print article):

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/08/12/magazine/12fonts-t.html?ex=1344744000&en=98f91dfee8879900&ei=5124&partner=permalink&exprod=permalink

Congratulations on doing such a great job with things. A year is indeed a major milestone, and many people would argue that that first year (in lots of things) is often the hardest, because so many new issues get thrown at you all at once. Strong work, all around.

I like the cartoon, too!

Thanks for the support Jeff I will read that article sounds interesting

Thanks for the update - always good to hear how you're doing. Sounds like this next session will be fun. Here's a tip: don't sit in the mom's bedroom to get a life subject for your drawings.

Enjoy your break, sounds like it's well deserved, too bad it's only for 1 week. Hopefully I'll get out of Boston soon and we can get you up to Woodland for a visit, my windows need staining anyway and you're a very good helper (slave).

See you at Thanksgiving I hope .. keep us posted. If I did not exist you would be the best blogger ever, to bad ... I exist.

Looks like a problem coming up... I have a life drawing class in session 2 of fall and I'm trying to postpone this class until the last year of school because I believe life drawing is nude or simi nude... And yes sadly I have no one to do this with...

Calling school now, maybe they put money in my tuition for a escort or a model that could come out and I could draw...

Whatever the case I'll figure it out... worst case senorio I'll have to draw 2d pictures off the internet but this will make my drawing look very cartoonish

Doesn't the class bring in a nude or semi nude model for the entire class to draw? I would imagine there would be lots of people in the class who couldn't find someone to get nude.

although, I'm always happy to get nude for you. all you have to do is ask, please, please ask

UMM thanks for not caring and not listening im in a online program...I AM SO MAD I NEVER WANNA SEE YOU NUDE AGIAN

lol - oh yeah. that would be kinda hard, didn't think about that. in that case, i can't believe the prof would ask that everyone find someone nude. that's just silly.

anyway - my offer is still open if you ever forgive me

well you did send me cookies... wanna share a cookie LADY AND THE TRAMP style

dont know if this picture will show

but this is the cookie sharing style i expect

Mmmm tasty kiss

You should look around internet sites for the Santa Monica area, you may be able to find a life drawing group or session(s) open to the public - possibly for a small fee. I know at Iowa they allowed people from the public to join night classes if seats were available and in Milwaukee there was an artist group where everyone got together and paid $5 each to bring in a nude model to draw. Might be worth checking out.
