New Goal

So I have decided that I want to start running. First I just want to feel the excursion of the run. Second I want to be in better shape.

My goal is to be able to run to the gym, workout, run home.

To start though I will just be running to the pier and back which is about a half a mile (Just a guess). I probable wont get to my goal for a long time, but I will keep you up on the trail there.

I ran my first run! I ran to the pier and back at about 7:50 and just got back 8:20. Its about 1 mile round trip I estimate.

I popped the puke cherry on the cool-down walk. Although it probable didn't help that I had breakfeast, half cup of coffee, and a few cigs in before I ran.

As you can see I am still working out the cracks here.

dude .. nice work man. That first run after a long 'no run' period is always tough. Bravo on popping the puke cherry as well lol

I ran my second run today. Sprinted the last 4 blocks

Very nice, Steven.

A great thing about running is that time is ultimately on your side. I don't think it's unfair to say that personal bests will ALWAYS result if you just keep at it. OK, the bar gets higher with time (Matt - I think I'll run 24 hours straight!; Brian - I think I'll run in 24 states, over mountains, etc.); but like day follows night you'll see improvements over time.

I'd consider keeping a log. Simple stuff: date, distance run, time, how many times you stopped, etc. You'll see things go your way as your physiology adapts. And - even a bad day running, is still a pretty good day.

Nice plan, man. How's it going?
